Multiple thousands of workers at Crown Casino will likely be on strike during this year's Spring Racing Carnival as part of a significant industrial campaign for better pay, and perhaps conditions.
Crown staff will vote on the possible strike action in the coming weeks after Fair Work Australia approved the ballot. Insiders are hoping they don't get the equivalent of a hung Parliament, which was the state of Australia's senate for roughly 2 weeks, before Julia Gillard was reappointed the Prime Ministership.
Staffers are seeking out a 13.5% pay rise over three years and have flat out rejected Crown's 11% offer.
The LHMU (Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union) state secretary Jess 'Witty' (Media Man tag) Walsh said Crown Limited had posted a sizable $300 million profit and could afford the increase.
She advised any strike action would involve dealers, food and beverage staff and gaming staff.
"Members should be voting over the next few weeks, so the industrial action would occur in early October - it probably lines up with the spring racing carnival. Experienced, properly-trained staff are vital to ensuring gaming and alcohol are served responsibly at Crown. But Crown has sent a clear message it does not value the loyalty, dedication and experience of its staff. It only cares about one thing: making more money, whatever the cost to the community or its own staff. It has told staff it cannot afford a fair wage increase and needs to make changes that could cost experienced dealers almost $5000 a year, despite its $300 million profit."
Crown chief executive David 'Cashed Up' (Media Man tag) Courtney said talk of strike action was not unusual towards the end of long negotiations (the previous enterprise agreement ceased on 30th June).
He tipped Crown's 11% offer was equal to that accepted by staff at Burswood Casino in Perth, Western Australia, and more than the 9% accepted by staff at Sydney's Star City Casino.

The European Court of Justice ruled there should not be a state monopoly of sports bets and lotteries in Germany, potentially opening up new opportunities for the online gaming groups. PartyGaming shares have climbed 12.9p to 285.5p on the news while its merger partner - Austria's Bwin - is more than 6% higher. 888 Holdings is up 1.25p at 41.75p while Sportingbet has added 0.25p to 67.25p.

Major Australian sports are set to get integrity officers, a pitch largely brought in my the casino like sports betting aspects of many sports, which has seen the integrity of the sector severely threatened over the past year, with the recent Aussie - Paki cricket match fixing being the most recent high profile brown stain. There was also a number of NRL, AFL and snooker matches questioned, and its obvious that affirmative and real, effective action is needed. For the corrupt people in and around sports betting in Australia the party may soon be over. Media Man and Gambling911 probe the sector quizzing movers and shakers, some on record, to help us find the way forward in the sometimes murky world of sports betting both down under and further afield...
Numerous high profile Australian sports betting experts has called on the major sporting codes down under in Australia to each appoint a specialist to oversee "gambling" - sports betting. Don't even get us started if it should be classified as a game of skill or game of chance. Might depend on if your an insider or an outsider. You know the drill.
Current leaders in the sports betting sector in Kangaroo and Koala land include James Packer 50% owned Befair, Centrebet, Sports TAB and Sportingbet.
Sportingbet chief Michael 'Sure Thing' (Media Man tag) Sullivan has been very forthright with his belief to see a crackdown and more safeguards and the like in place for the industry.
The sure one advised the amount of dollars being gambled in Australia mixed in with sporting bodies often having a "professional relationship" with the betting agencies, gave strong reason for the need to change.
"Not just Sportingbet but all the major operators have got relationships with the NRL so it's probably time to appoint an integrity officer because betting in this country is incredibly transparent," Sullivan told the press.
"The cricket betting is underground with Indian bookmakers who turn over billions of dollars with absolutely no transparency whereas here it's regulated, transparent and taxed. It's not just the NRL - the AFL, Cricket Australia and Tennis Australia have to embrace the idea (of a betting expert) and go to the next level because there's no doubt our turnover is starting to be very significant in both codes."
His stern and well informed comments came after reports suggested investigations into a suspicious plunge on an unusual "exotic betting option" in a rugby league match between the Canterbury Bulldogs and North Queensland Cowboys could be extended to include 6 NRL games.
A greater scandal is ongoing over an illegal betting surge in cricket, with three Paki "players" (performers?) suspended for now following a spot-fixing scandal over bowling no balls in the 4 Test against England.
In excess of 80 cricket matches will be probed into as part of a broader investigation.
Gerard 'Dollars' (MM tag) Daffy, who leads relative newcomer sports betting agency Sportsalive, advised Australia was the best regulated betting country in the world, despite some knockers not being totally convinced.
"Several other countries are copying our model of information sharing and knowing your client," Daffy said.
New clients opening accounts must pass a 100-point security check.
"It's the same as opening a bank account. We have that information, the industry regulators have it, AUSTRAC (anti money laundering group) have it and as we're finding out now, the police have it."
Daffy was happy to go on record and say you couldn't just pick up the Yellow Pages in India and look up a bookmaker because they were illegal.
"If you can believe the stories there's over $100 million a day bet illegally in Mumbai alone. John the bookie operates in a shed in Mumbai. The law says he doesn't exist but he holds a million dollars a day."
Daffy reckons illegal Mumbai bookmakers turned over in one day what Australian bookies combined held in a year on cricket!
They offer punters hundreds of wagering options including the toss, minutes lost through rain, which end the umpires would stand and how many players would be wearing sunglasses. Betting on no balls is under the spotlight at the moment, but no word on bets about if Australia's John Howard will get a job as an official in Paki land or India. Might be about 100,000 to one.
Bookmakers contacted by news media said they'd co-operated fully with the current NRL betting probe, handing over relevant betting sheets on the Bulldogs-Cowboys match.
None had been asked for any more particulars on any other NRL games.
St George Illawarra coach Wayne Bennett said it was time to stop the "exotic bets" on sports.
"It is an issue for the game, there's no doubt about that," he told Network Ten.
"They've just got to stop the multiple (betting options). There's just too many variables that can be manipulated too easily. I'd like to think we're all honest people, but that's not the case."
A number of offshore based gaming and sports betting companies are rumoured to have an interest to ramp up down under and eventually even have offices in Australia including PartyGaming - Gamebookers - bwin, Virgin Games and even BetUS, which has a stronghold in the UFC niche, which Aussie's have taken a liking to. Experts think that betting on pro surfing and some snow sports could be growing markets, but snooker remains on the nose, following betting and fixing scandals last year. The internet is a global medium. Kids no now to beat filters with proxy and the like. Corruption needs to be stamped out, and more regulation and safeguards are the way forward. We need more quality people and brands in the mix. Betfair has Hugh Taggart, Centrebet has Neil Evans, Virgin - Richard Branson, PartyGaming with Jim Ryan. Maybe our former P.M John Howard might be up for the role. If it's on Australian soil, I think the Australian public would like it. Liberal leader Tony 'The Bruiser' Abbott, a former boxer, would be able to also talk sports and sports betting shop with Howard more often. It would be great for the business of sports with integrity, politics, and make more interesting sports media fodder. Hopefully the Australian Labor Party can help get this sports betting situation right, but I have my doubts. I expect Betfair and Centrebet to maintain their top positions and to drive forward innovation and safeguards."

Australia is tipped to get a massive pokie reform, initially starting at pubs, clubs and hotels... so pokies palaces, then onto land based casinos, but insiders in the thick of the action say the plan won't actually work and go onto explain why? FUD (fear, uncertainly and doubt), spin, or just the hard facts Jack? The developments come months after the release of the Australian Productivity Report into gambling, and as brands such as World Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, PartyGaming and Virgin continue to eye of Australia and the greater Asia Pacific region. Australia is tipped to implement a number of gambling reforms, starting with everyones favorite - the pokies, you know... down the road at the pub. But, the reforms may be easier said than done, says folks on both sides - the pokie lovers and the pokie haters. Investors sent the shares of another pokie machine manufacturer, Aristocrat, down 16¢ to $3.64, and Woolworths (linked to gambling) shares fell 9¢ to $28.38.
Woolworths, via the ALH Group, owns about 11,000 of Australia's 198,000 pokie machines. From 2012 it's going to own thousands more down in Victoria, when the current ownership duopoly of Tatts Group and Tabcorp hits the wall.
Woolworths declined to comment while an election result remains unknown, so I guess we can't blame them for the current silent treatment.
The change is not expected to significantly affect Tatts and Tabcorp, because they are exiting the market, but it may have some impact on future ventures. Some flow on effects may take years to trace to the cause, which may end up being mismanagement from the Australian government! Don't be against it.
Tatts and Tabcorp have been coexisting, and Crown Limited remains focused on hotels and casinos in Australia, as well as driving forward projects in Macau, with the odd venture further afield. Tatts is considered a strong contender to become Victoria's new monitor of the integrity of poker machines from 2012. Tabcorp will manage gaming rooms for venues after 2012.
Victoria has plans to introduce a pre-commitment system, phased in from this December to 2015, when all the machines will be linked across the state to prevent a player using any machine for a set period, once their spending or time limit has been reached. The tech has been used in Queensland and South Australia, and is offered to loyalty club players at Crown Casino. It's got a bit of a 'Big Brother' feel to it, but Australia's been big on 'Big Brother' and 'Thought Police' for decades, however these days its just more obvious.
Aristocrat in fact provides the "central monitoring system" for Norway's Norsk Tipping, which has a mandatory pre-commitment system.
"The system tracks usage by each player with the player able to set limits up to a maximum allowed by the Norwegian government," an Aristocrat spokesman disclosed.
Of the $19 billion Aussies spent on gambling - gaming in 2008-09, $10.5 billion was spent on poker machines in pubs and clubs. Another $1.4 billion was spent on pokies at casinos. Woolworths, via the ALH Group, owns about 11,000 of Australia's 198,000 pokie machines. From 2012 it's going to own thousands more down in Victoria, when the current ownership duopoly of Tatts Group and Tabcorp hits the wall.
Woolworths declined to comment while an election result remains unknown, so I guess we can't blame them for the current silent treatment.
The change is not expected to significantly affect Tatts and Tabcorp, because they are exiting the market, but it may have some impact on future ventures. Some flow on effects may take years to trace to the cause, which may end up being mismanagement from the Australian government! Don't be against it.
Tatts and Tabcorp have been coexisting, and Crown Limited remains focused on hotels and casinos in Australia, as well as driving forward projects in Macau, with the odd venture further afield. In a prepared statement she said that he had advised her that he had "used a computer supplied by the Parliament to visit gambling and adult sites". He visited and played. I have made clear to Mr McLeay that I expect ministers to use the resources of office appropriately. "I say this very clearly...if that sort of ill-discipline continues, the blunt reality is that we will lose the election." McLeay was first elected to Parliament in 2003, and still holds the southern NSW seat of Heathcote. Before Parliament, Mr McLeay was a prominent unionist. He is married to author Cassandra Wilkinson, who has previously worked for the NSW government. A number of Labor MP's are currently stating on thin ice, and the weather is hotting up, so the smart money says to expect more MP's to go missing in action.

The Alliance for Affordable Broadband...made up on telcos including Allegro Networks, PIPE Networks, BigAir, Vocus Communications, AAPT, Polyfone and EFTEL...proposes government-subsidised fibre backhaul but recommends connecting the country regions with a fourth-generation (4G) national wireless broadband network. Labor's government-funded plan will connect 93 per cent of homes with fibre-optic cables, the alternative plan, similar to the Coalition's, will connect up houses via a new wireless broadband network. The 4G network would connect 98% of Aussies and offer speeds of up to 100Mbps. The release of the broadband prop parallels with meetings between key independents, members of the government and NBN Co. The independents will decide who will form the next Australian government and broadband is now a key factor in negotiations. May say the internet censorship debate was a lead up to the broadband proposals. Liberal's are understood to have secured some good advise from Malcolm 'No Bull' Turnbull, who co founded ISP OzEmail, and became a millionaire fueled from the business.

The Coalition points out that the alternative broadband plan as evidence that Labor's $43 billion broadband plan was a "white elephant" that was technically and economically deficient. "The sensible and affordable approach outlined by the alliance largely reflects Coalition policy," shadow finance minister Andrew Robb told press. "By using a dynamic mix of technologies, including next generation wireless, and by deploying a core fibre backhaul network, major improvements can be achieved, particularly in rural and regional areas, for a fraction of the cost of Labor's $43 billion, one-size-fits-all approach." The alternative plan, like the Coalition's, is dependant upon the private sector to build much of the future broadband infrastructure. Labor has said the government should build the infrastructure and then sell it to the private sector later, and this has attracted many skeptics. Labor's plan will give speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, whereas the alliance believes 100Mbps is good enough. "We see the greatest priority is giving broadband to those who don't have any, not faster broadband to those that have," the alliance said. It has gone on record that it believes that a 4G wireless network could be built for $3 billion with a large part of this delivered by private investment as opposed to public monies. Some telco experts, including Internet Industry Association chief executive Peter Coroneos, have said wireless would never be a substitute for fibre. Labor's NBN plan has massive support within the industry. "The problem with wireless is that it always is a shared spectrum so you always have the problem that if you want to use it in built-up areas you actually need thousands and thousands of towers so the signal doesn't degrade to such a level that it becomes unusable," telco analyst Paul Budde said. Budde advised all the wireless towers would need to be linked to a fibre network anyway, so the question was largely around whether to connect the "last mile" to people's homes using fibre, which is what Labor is proposing, or wireless. "Experts around the world are saying that fibre is by far the most cost-effective way of doing that - it's not just a matter of the upfront cost but also the maintenance," said Budde. "The ongoing cost of maintaining a wireless network is significantly higher than the ongoing cost of a fibre network. Telstra has clearly indicated this in the past. "Budde said it was unclear whether wireless networks could deliver future services promised by Labor and the NBN, such as "tele-medicine" and "tele-education". The Alliance for Affordable Broadband...made up on telcos including Allegro Networks, PIPE Networks, BigAir, Vocus Communications, AAPT, Polyfone and EFTEL...proposes government-subsidised fibre backhaul but recommends connecting the country regions with a fourth-generation (4G) national wireless broadband network. Labor's government-funded plan will connect 93 per cent of homes with fibre-optic cables, the alternative plan, similar to the Coalition's, will connect up houses via a new wireless broadband network. The 4G network would connect 98% of Aussies and offer speeds of up to 100Mbps. The release of the broadband prop parallels with meetings between key independents, members of the government and NBN Co. The independents will decide who will form the next Australian government and broadband is now a key factor in negotiations. May say the internet censorship debate was a lead up to the broadband proposals. Liberal's are understood to have secured some good advise from Malcolm 'No Bull' Turnbull, who co founded ISP OzEmail, and became a millionaire fueled from the business.
The telco alliance said in a statement released Tuesday "We believe the argument for a national fibre-only NBN solution has failed to convince. A well-informed independent member of Parliament might wisely favour an NBN version 3 public-private model on a mix of technology, with deliverables within a term, over a more costly and more risky eight-plus years NBN 2.0 rollout." Probed why they didn't release their plan before the election, alliance member Jason 'Ask Me' (MM tag) Ashton, chief executive of Big Air, advised the delay was due to the fact that the Coalition released its broadband policy late in the election cycle. The Coalition points out that the alternative broadband plan as evidence that Labor's $43 billion broadband plan was a "white elephant" that was technically and economically deficient. "The sensible and affordable approach outlined by the alliance largely reflects Coalition policy," shadow finance minister Andrew Robb told press. "By using a dynamic mix of technologies, including next generation wireless, and by deploying a core fibre backhaul network, major improvements can be achieved, particularly in rural and regional areas, for a fraction of the cost of Labor's $43 billion, one-size-fits-all approach." The alternative plan, like the Coalition's, is dependant upon the private sector to build much of the future broadband infrastructure. Labor has said the government should build the infrastructure and then sell it to the private sector later, and this has attracted many skeptics. Labor's plan will give speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second, whereas the alliance believes 100Mbps is good enough. "We see the greatest priority is giving broadband to those who don't have any, not faster broadband to those that have," the alliance said. It has gone on record that it believes that a 4G wireless network could be built for $3 billion with a large part of this delivered by private investment as opposed to public monies. Some telco experts, including Internet Industry Association chief executive Peter Coroneos, have said wireless would never be a substitute for fibre. Labor's NBN plan has massive support within the industry. "The problem with wireless is that it always is a shared spectrum so you always have the problem that if you want to use it in built-up areas you actually need thousands and thousands of towers so the signal doesn't degrade to such a level that it becomes unusable," telco analyst Paul Budde said. Budde advised all the wireless towers would need to be linked to a fibre network anyway, so the question was largely around whether to connect the "last mile" to people's homes using fibre, which is what Labor is proposing, or wireless. "Experts around the world are saying that fibre is by far the most cost-effective way of doing that - it's not just a matter of the upfront cost but also the maintenance," said Budde. "The ongoing cost of maintaining a wireless network is significantly higher than the ongoing cost of a fibre network. Telstra has clearly indicated this in the past. "Budde said it was unclear whether wireless networks could deliver future services promised by Labor and the NBN, such as "tele-medicine" and "tele-education". A spokeswoman for the Communications Minister, Stephen Conroy, said Labor's NBN policy was not a "quick fix for an election" but a solution for the long-term benefit of the country. "The NBN will deliver affordable, high speed broadband to all premises in Australia, no matter where they are located. Every home, business, school and hospital will be included and no one will miss out," the spokeswoman said. The government provided a list of companies that had come out in support of the NBN, including Telstra, Optus, iiNet, Internode, Macquarie Telecom, Primus, Adam Internet, Intel, Huawei and Google. Media reports said Quek, a local seafood industry magnate, had squandered the amount over a 3 day gambling spree at the Resorts World Sentosa casino. Mohamed said his decision was also prompted by a case in which one of his managers stole gold items from the firm to pay off gambling debts before the local casinos opened the doors. "It's better to be safe than sorry," said Mohamed. Financial firm DBS said on Thursday that Singapore's 2 casino resorts are expected to contribute 2 billion Singapore dollars ($A1.69 billion) to the country's economy this year. After church and civic groups raised concern over the social impact of legalising casinos, Singapore is allowing individuals or their families to apply for exclusion orders on "problem gamblers", barring them from even entering the casinos. Perhaps this type of scenario will be a growing trend in the Asia Pacific region. Australian nor New Zealand casino top brass has commented on this specific situation as we go to publication.

ELEANOR HALL: As the scandal over cricket corruption spreads, online gambling operators in Australia say the solution is not to prohibit sports betting but to regulate it better.
Betting in cricket is no longer just about who will win the game or the series. As we've seen, it extends to whether players will throw away their wicket, drop a catch or bowl an illegal delivery and information on injuries and team selections in the hands of a bookmaker or their agent can also influence betting plunges.
But Simon Santow reports that while cricket officials accept that betting is a problem for the game, they say they don't know how to put an end to it.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed was once the chief executive of the International Cricket Council. He says he's not surprised by the recent revelations.
MALCOLM SPEED: It looks a fairly compelling case. The News of the World, they do this sort of thing very well and it is very graphic.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed would like the ICC's anti-corruption and security unit to take a fresh look at the Sydney Test. He says dealing with corruption and sports betting is a long-term project.
MALCOLM SPEED: When I was involved Lord Condon, the former head of Scotland Yard was the head of the anti-corruption and security unit and his consistent message to the board and to me was, this hasn't gone away. The same corrupt bookmakers and gamblers are out there. We need to work very hard with the players. We need to make sure that the players are aware of the consequences because they will be back.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed says that draconian steps, such as banning Pakistan from competing, could be next.
MALCOLM SPEED: I think that is an option. It is serious. It looks as though it is endemic, that several of the team members are involved and have been for some time so perhaps they need a rest.
SIMON SANTOW: On the other side of the world in Pakistan, there's grief, anger, and disgust about the scandal.

Now it is up to the Pakistan Cricket Board to take a strict action and clean Pakistan cricket once and for all. Adelaide, South Australia: SkyCity Casino To Get $250m Upgrade...
Casino chain SkyCity says a planned expansion in Adelaide will cost up to $250 million. SkyCity has told the Australian Securities Exchange the casino will be expanded towards the banks of the River Torrens as part of the South Australian Government's Adelaide exciting riverfront development. It said the expansion would include new gaming facilities, a sports bar and restaurants, plus new car parking. The company advised it remained subject to a range of approvals. GM David 'Cashed Up' (MM tag) Christian said the expansion would be a key part of the riverfront development. "Being a beautiful old heritage building, we want to keep that grandeur where we can and put some attachment to the north side of the building that links in and fits in with the whole precinct development," he said. The pokies have disappeared from the World Bar in Kings Cross, the seedy part of Sydney's 'Sin City' with the removal of 15 machines this past week. They reckon the 8 live bands every Friday night will keep the crowd happy. Various news media reports the machines had called the venue home since early 90s (venue previously called the Rhino Bar), but have been thrown out to make way for a new space for "album launches and listening parties, spoken-word and book readings, possibly private functions and events". No word if they had the 'Black Rhino' slot, which is begging for an online casino version, alongside Cleopatra and soon Tomb Raider And Andre The Giant we're told. World Bar’s head of marketing and promotions Grant Barnes told the press that "Ditching the pokies is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, but their removal really just reflects what the people of Sydney want from their entertainment venues – it’s this shift in the market that should be applauded and encouraged. The pokies backlash isn’t new," says the bruising Barnes, "But venues reacting to the backlash perhaps is. Hopefully, it happens more and more in the near future. A Singapore firm has basically banned its management from the country's two new casinos following reports a local businessman lost a small fortune at the gaming tables, its founder said last Friday. Mohamed Salleh, chief executive officer of retail and property firm Second Chance... funny name given the circumstances... said he had applied for casino exclusion orders for himself and 6 of his top personnel using a system designed to keep gambling addicts out of harms way. "A few days ago I read about this Henry Quek ... that lost 26 million (Singapore) dollars ($A21.69 million) at this casino, so I was thinking, why not I include all my top executives and my finance people?" he told the press. Media reports said Quek, a local seafood industry magnate, had squandered the amount over a 3 day gambling spree at the Resorts World Sentosa casino. Mohamed said his decision was also prompted by a case in which one of his managers stole gold items from the firm to pay off gambling debts before the local casinos opened the doors. "It's better to be safe than sorry," said Mohamed. Financial firm DBS said on Thursday that Singapore's 2 casino resorts are expected to contribute 2 billion Singapore dollars ($A1.69 billion) to the country's economy this year. After church and civic groups raised concern over the social impact of legalising casinos, Singapore is allowing individuals or their families to apply for exclusion orders on "problem gamblers", barring them from even entering the casinos. Perhaps this type of scenario will be a growing trend in the Asia Pacific region. Australian nor New Zealand casino top brass has commented on this specific situation as we go to publication.
Gambling operators favour regulation, not bans...
ELEANOR HALL: As the scandal over cricket corruption spreads, online gambling operators in Australia say the solution is not to prohibit sports betting but to regulate it better.
Betting in cricket is no longer just about who will win the game or the series. As we've seen, it extends to whether players will throw away their wicket, drop a catch or bowl an illegal delivery and information on injuries and team selections in the hands of a bookmaker or their agent can also influence betting plunges.
But Simon Santow reports that while cricket officials accept that betting is a problem for the game, they say they don't know how to put an end to it.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed was once the chief executive of the International Cricket Council. He says he's not surprised by the recent revelations.
MALCOLM SPEED: It looks a fairly compelling case. The News of the World, they do this sort of thing very well and it is very graphic.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed would like the ICC's anti-corruption and security unit to take a fresh look at the Sydney Test. He says dealing with corruption and sports betting is a long-term project.
MALCOLM SPEED: When I was involved Lord Condon, the former head of Scotland Yard was the head of the anti-corruption and security unit and his consistent message to the board and to me was, this hasn't gone away. The same corrupt bookmakers and gamblers are out there. We need to work very hard with the players. We need to make sure that the players are aware of the consequences because they will be back.
SIMON SANTOW: Malcolm Speed says that draconian steps, such as banning Pakistan from competing, could be next.
MALCOLM SPEED: I think that is an option. It is serious. It looks as though it is endemic, that several of the team members are involved and have been for some time so perhaps they need a rest.
SIMON SANTOW: On the other side of the world in Pakistan, there's grief, anger, and disgust about the scandal.

SHAHID HASHMI: The people now easily believe that their cricketers are prey to all such illegal practices so they now believe and it is nothing shocking for them but still they would like this investigation to be completed and they demand that strict action be taken against all those who are involved and once and for all Pakistan cricket should be purged from all these elements.
SIMON SANTOW: Shahid Hashmi says the latest scandal is one thing but just as concerning is the lack of action from Pakistan authorities when team management expressed similar concerns after the Sydney Test in January.
SHAHID HASHMI: The then coach Intikhab Alam, assistant coach, Aaqib Javed, level serious allegations during an enquiry so why the case was swept under the carpet by Pakistan Cricket Board. Now it is up to the Pakistan Cricket Board to take a strict action and clean Pakistan cricket once and for all. Adelaide, South Australia: SkyCity Casino To Get $250m Upgrade...
Casino chain SkyCity says a planned expansion in Adelaide will cost up to $250 million. SkyCity has told the Australian Securities Exchange the casino will be expanded towards the banks of the River Torrens as part of the South Australian Government's Adelaide exciting riverfront development. It said the expansion would include new gaming facilities, a sports bar and restaurants, plus new car parking. The company advised it remained subject to a range of approvals. GM David 'Cashed Up' (MM tag) Christian said the expansion would be a key part of the riverfront development. "Being a beautiful old heritage building, we want to keep that grandeur where we can and put some attachment to the north side of the building that links in and fits in with the whole precinct development," he said. SA Independent Senator Nick 'Mr X' (MM tag) Xenophon says any Adelaide Casino expansion would increase problem gambling and ultimately cost jobs! "The State Government needs to assure the people of South Australia that any expansion of SkyCity Casino won't lead to an increase in problem gambling or, worse still, a relaxation in regulations because SkyCity is putting this money into the state," he said.
